Styles for fabric Roman Shades include a number of flat and pleated shades, some of which lay completely flat when the shade is lowered, while others form patterns such as waterfalls or alternating sizes of pleats. There are also a number of designs that can be created for the bottom of the shade including u-shaped, balloons, and inverted pleats.

Many of the different styles of fabric Roman shades allow the fabric to come off the front of the headrail with no need for a valence. Some of the shades also have an option for the fabric to come off the back of the headrail and include a valence to cover the headrail and hardware. To complete the customization of these shades, there are four choices for lift systems: cord with cleat, cord-lock, bead chain loop, and motorization.
